Volunteer for Old Fella!
Old Fella is an entirely volunteer effort and the more volunteers we have, the more animals we can save. By offering your time and talent you can improve the quality of life for our pets while they wait for their new forever homes. If you would like to volunteer with Old Fella, please contact us today!

Foster an Old Fella. Our Foster Parents provides a temporary home for dogs and cats as they await the discovery of a forever home. Fostering can last anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on the needs of the animal. We always have a need for Foster Homes throughout the year.
Support a Foster. If you are not in a position to foster an Old Fella rescue, perhaps you would consider volunteering your time to support other volunteers who are fostering. Read more about becoming a Foster Support Volunteer.
Volunteer as Intake and Rescue Support. If you live in or near Burke County, and wish to volunteer in a hand-on capacity, please consider serving as an Intake Support Volunteer or a Rescue Support Volunteer.
Educate the Kids about Pet Responsibilities. Old Fella has a thriving Humane Education program. We reach hundreds of primary school children with our message of compassion to pets and responsible pet ownership. Our Humane Education program is looking for volunteers to make presentations to children, and otherwise assist with further program development. Read More About Old Fella’s Kids and about becoming a Humane Education Volunteer.
Transport Animals to Clinics and Adoption Destinations. Old Fella routinely transports cats and dogs to spay/neuter clinics and to our rescue partners. We are always looking for volunteers who can drive and/or ride along on these transports. Read about our past and ongoing transports.
Fundraise for Old Fella. Old Fella is 100% dependent upon donations from individuals, corporations and charitable grants. We always need volunteers to assist with preparation of letters of solicitation and grant applications. Your ideas and effort are always welcome. Read about being a Fundraising Volunteer.
Represent Old Fella at a Special Event. To raise awareness of the pet overpopulation problem in Burke County, Old Fella strives to be present at as many local events as it can. We set up information booths where we engage the public, offering snacks, beverages and crafts to encourage donations. Read about past events.
