The Rescuer At Rainbow Bridge
The following is a recent memorial:
I lost a friend today, a friend that I miss terribly. He lost a brave, hard-fought battle to a terrible disease. I had only known him a few short years, but during that time, he was always cheerful and loving, with a playful spirit and a wicked sense of humor. His world was full of love and attention and he had the sweetest disposition I’ve ever know in one such as he. Every afternoon he met me as I arrived home, and no matter what my day was like, he made it better. He would always be waiting for me, patiently. He had no malice in his heart. He never asked for anything; he was always ready to give his love.
I will miss him forever, but I know that today, when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, he saw lots of old friends waiting to welcome him. My family, as well as his family, was so lucky to have known this gentle giant. If you are fortunate enough to have a warm, loving friend like our Darby, count yourself very blessed. Please look at those little faces you see by the side of the road and at dumpsters throughout the county. Give them a chance, an opportunity to not only live, but to learn what a loving home and family can be like. I promise you will receive far more from them than you are required to give.
Goodbye for now, Darby. We miss you.Vicki Cullipher
